LEARN TO BOULDER!
A one-off introductory taster session designed to teach you all you need to know about bouldering and getting you climbing.
Whether it’s your first-ever time or are in need of a refresher, our Intro’s offer a way to learn the basic elements of bouldering and cover basic safety and best techniques.
Bouldering is pretty accessible and relatively simple to pick up the basics. After your 30 minutes intro session, one of our friendly, knowledgeable instructors will have taught you all you need to know to get you up on our walls in a safe manner, help you understand the key principles and exlplain the grading system, and tell you all about the different types of challenges involved. You then have the rest of the day to hang out at the park – you can take your time and enjoy climbing our bouldering walls, building strength and practising techniques or feel free to refuel in our cafe bar if your prefer before returning to the walls.
No equipment is required for bouldering (no harnesses and ropes needed!), and we provide all participants with free climbing shoe hire as part of the Intro so all you might need is some chalk to help with your grip!
We have two types of Intro – our Adult and our Family option:
Bouldering Intro (Over 18’s)
Suitable for individuals and groups of up to six at a time over 18 years old
Bouldering Intro (Family 7 yrs+)
Perfect for parents and carers who want to climb with their younger ones. For multiple people from 2-6, and those aged seven years and older. Under 18’s will need a participating adult with them on these sessions.
GET READY FOR YOUR VISIT
In order to take part in a Bouldering Intro (or to climb unsupervised) you do need to have signed our waiver. You can do this in Reception when you arrive but to save time and get you on the walls quicker its much better to complete online ahead of your visit.
An brief explanation of bouldering…
Bouldering is a form of low-level climbing without ropes and equipment. It offers climbers, adrenaline seekers and extreme sport enthusiasts a range of physical and mental challenges and a social alternative to the gym.
Featuring an array of different routes, called problems, on the walls you have to use a combination of brains and brawn. Bouldering requires relatively little know-how to get the most out of the experience and is a great way to train, learn, and just have a good time.
