270 Climbing

ahead of your visit

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Tiny Climbers!

Whether you are visiting us for the first time, or you’re a regular, ahead of your visit there are some things that are useful to know and should help your experience go smoother.

LET’S GET READY!

SAFETY MATTERS

Ahead of the Fun Walls part of your Tiny Climbers session, you will watch our Safety Brief Video. This will help you get a feel for what’s involved and understand some of the key do’s & don’ts while on the walls. Don’t worry if you’re not sure about anything covered or forget something as we’ll be there to help.

We hope you’re excited and looking forward to visiting us, however if you have any queries or issues in the meantime, please take a look below or do get in contact.

You can also look through our FAQs for loads of helpful information at any time, but here’s a quick reminder of the most useful things that you need to know!

getting to us

The park can be accessed via two ways but the best way to get to us is to head for the Twelve Bells & Premier Inn in Little Witcombe. If following a sat nav or online map, please enter the following postcodeGL3 4SS – this will direct you to the Twelve Bells. From there, simply continue going along Cirencester Road towards Bentham. Continue through Witcombe village, following the road around to Bentham Lane, and tada as if by magic, 270 Climbing Park will be waiting for you on your left!

We recommend not turning into Bentham Lane or Old Coach Road directly from the A46 – particulary if you are in a large vehicle. These roads are winding, narrow country lanes and are single-track in places which makes passing difficult and they are often used by horses and dog walkers. Instead, please continue along the A46 until you reach the Crosshands Roundabout in Brockworth and then carry along the Cirencester Road.

If coming from Birdlip direction we recommend not turning into Green Lane. Again, it’s a narrow road.  Instead, please continue along Ermin Way and then turn right at the Twelve Bells into Cirencester Road and make your way on to Bentham Lane.

You can not get to us from the A417 – even though you’ll see us from the road, you cannot access the park from the A417 – and if travelling up the hill you’ll have quite a detour to get back to us!

supervision

All participating children must have adult supervision to be able to help with clipping in and out. The adult does not need to book on to the session but must watch the safety brief so they understand the clipping process. One adult can supervise up to two children. Our Instructor’s will be on hand to supervise things and of course help where needed.

arriving

When you arrive, please make your way to Reception to check in.  If you can, try to arrive around 10 minutes before the advertised start of your session – especially if you haven’t visited us before. This should give you enough time to get checked-in and to find your bearings (toilets, cafe bar, etc) and hopefully sort out some of the following important elements below!

belongings

No bags or backpacks are allowed on the walls or the matting, however as part of the session you get the use of one of our rooms which you can leave any bags and belongings in.  The same goes for any loose jewellery or items of value. Try to bring essential items only with you.

Please empty your children’s pockets of any toys or belongings. As well as being uncomfortable when climbing, there’s also a risk of them becoming damaged or falling out and hitting someone.

If you require something more secure, we have a number of lockers available around the centre, please note these will require a padlock if you wish to lock.  Padlocks with keys are available to purchase from Reception or you are welcome to bring your own.

food / drinks

Please remember no food or drinks are allowed on the matting, however, we understand your little ones may need to refuel during the action. Please use our Cotswold Room if you need to top up on snacks or you can visit our lovely cafe after your session.

hair

To help save on time, it may be worth sorting out any long hair before you attend the safety briefing. If you are lucky enough to have long hair please tie it back to prevent it getting entangled in any of the equipment.

clothing

Try to wear something that’s light and comfortable that allows you to move around –  Avoid hoodies if you can, but if you do wear one we will ask you to tuck the hood inside. Obviously we’re indoors so you dont need to worry about wet or windy weather but the Fun Walls and Bouldering areas still get pretty warm in the summer and much cooler during the winter so shorts & t-shirt is fine if it’s a nice day outside, or sweathshirt and legging/jeans will be ok if its a chilly day. Whatever the weather remember you’ll hopefully be moving around a fair bit so best leave anything thick, heavy or restrictive at home!

It is important that you wear footwear that isn’t going to fall off easily, and also covers your heel and toes – so no crocs, flip-flops or slippers!  A trusty pair of trainers or shoes will be fine. For hygiene reasons with transfer on the climbing holds, please make sure your footwear is pretty clean – no muddy boots ok!

Any jewellery that we deem to be a entanglement risk or a safety issue will either be removed or taped over.

toilets

We have multiple toilets within in the main building – all are signposted but if you can’t find them please ask any member of the team. To save on wasting time while you could be climbing we strongly suggest trying for the toilet before you make your way down to the Fun Walls for the safety briefing and start of your session. It’s also a lot trickier to go to the toilet with a harness on!

There is baby changing facilities within the accessible toilet by Reception.  There is also a toilet right next to the Bouldering area for the second section of the session.

breastfeeding

We are breastfeeding friendly at 270. For those who prefer more privacy then we do have a Quiet Room which can be used for anyone at any time.  This is a multi-use room that has been designed for people to have a private, quiet place to go to if they need it.

etiquette

On the walls people go at different speeds and different people find different climbs easier or more of a challenge. If you are waiting for someone who is taking a long time on a particular element then try climbing another and come back to it later.

If there are people waiting below to climb the element that you are on, don’t feel pressured or rushed to complete it quicker than you feel comfortable with. Equally though, once you have reached the top, do the right thing and move on to another element to allow the next person to have a go.

and finally…

That’s about it! Like we say please take a look through our Park FAQ’s if there’s anything else not covered here. If you have any further questions or any concerns at any stage of your visit, please just ask any member of the 270 Team – we’re here to help!

Hope to see you soon!
