Join us this March for our inaugural 270 comp – the Boulder Open is our first big competition here at the Park. With some epic climbs plus prizes, stalls and music it looks set to be a fantastic day – we can’t wait to get started and for you to be a part of it! 

We have some incredible blocs lined up from some renowned route setters – including two-time British Champion & World Championship Finalist Nathan Philips, French setter Maxime Amrhein who has set at walls all around the globe, plus others to be confirmed shortly, as well as our in-house setting team.

Whether the Open will be your first visit, or you’ve been to us before, we look forward to welcoming you to 270 Climbing for our inaugural comp.

  • Under 15 (U15): Born 2012–2013 (female & male) 
  • Under 13 (U13): Born 2014–2015 (female & male) 
  • Under 11 (U11): Born 2016–2018+ (female & male) 
  • Youth Para: Born 2012–2018+ 

Open (16+)

  • Female
  • Male

  • Masters (45+)

 

Eligibility

  • Open categories are open to athletes born in 2011 or earlier
  • Athletes born in 2012 may elect to compete in the Open category instead of U15
  • Athletes can only compete in one category
  • All athletes must be registered, and either supervised or signed off in advance of the comp, in line with 270 Climbing terms of use.

COMP FORMAT 

Everything you need to know ahead of the climbing…

 

Qualification Round (all categories unless stated)

  • 25 boulder problems
  • Athletes may attempt boulders in any order during the qualification window.
  • Scoring follows Olympic-style bouldering format: 25 (Top), 10 (Zone), 5 (Bonus where applicable), -0.1 point per attempt.
  • Scoring and rankings via Griptonite

Youth Comp

  • All youth categories compete in qualification during the morning session
  • Rankings calculated separately per category and gender
  • Youth category podiums: Top 3 boys and Top 3 girls in each youth category


Overall Youth Comp Final

  • Top 6 boys and Top 6 girls combined across all Youth categories
  • 4 boulders, World Climbing-style rotation format
  • Scoring: 25 (Top) / 10 (Zone) / 5 (Bonus), with -0.1 point per attempt

 

Open Comp

  • Open qualification: 25 boulders, free attempt order, scoring 25 / 10 / 5 plus 0.1 points per attempt.
  • Open finals: Top 6 athletes per gender
  • 4 boulders, World Climbing-style rotation format
  • Scoring: 25 (Top) / 10 (Zone) / 5 (Bonus), with -0.1 point per attempt

 

Para Open Comp

  • Qualification round only (no finals)
  • 25 boulders
  • Podium awards


Gender Inclusive Comp

  • Qualification round only (no finals)
  • 25 boulders
  • Podium awards


Masters (45+) Comp

  • Qualification round only (no finals)
  • 25 boulders
  • Podium awards

      • £30 for general / non-members

      • Athlete parents/supervisors/coaches can access for free

      IMPORTANT INFORMATION

      • All participants must be registered – this can be done online from our website ahead of your visit by clicking here or by clicking on the button below.
      • Parents/coaches of particpating athletes are allowed access for free. 
      • Spectators are allowed access for free.
      • Athlete/participation briefing documents will be provided on the day and ahead of the action.
      • If you have any queries ahead of your visit, please get in touch via email on info@270climbing.com   
      • To help capture and support the event, we will photograph and/or film various elements of the competition. This will include entrants use of the facilities, and where happy to oblige, conversations with participants and/or their opinions on the event.
